Problem Situation
The Executive Director wanted to increase the overall performance of the agency by improving the communications and interactions among four key division leaders.

DWH Consulting Solution 
DWH developed an agreement to protect the confidentiality of our individual conversations before the coaching interventions began.

Results Experienced by Client 
The client experienced dramatic improvements in handling difficult conversations with staff, board members and external funding sources. Since the intervention, the client has seen a 25% increase in their budget from the previous year. The Executive Director attributed the funding increase to personal effectiveness coaching.

Problem Situation
The Board wanted to: (1) identify critical issues and unmet needs in their respective field, (2) clarify ways in which the Institute’s vision and programs have been effective and (3) how those programs may need to be revised or changed so the Institute can make the greatest possible contribution to the field.

DWH Consulting Solution
DWH conducted a series of focus groups and key informant interviews with experts in the U.S. and abroad. Key findings were presented to the Institute’s board in the form of a final report.

The Institute applied key findings from the final report, reached their own conclusions, developed recommendations, and framed a direction for the Institute’s future.

Conflict Resolution

Problem Situation
The center’s executive director reported that a division chief and four department directors were at odds with each other over a host of work and interpersonal issues. The conflict had been escalating for months.

DWH Consulting Solution
DWH conducted a series of conflict resolution workshops to flush out the key issues and develop a working agreement for them to interact more effectively. 

Results Experienced by Client
The client reports that there’s been no set backs with the division manager or department heads since the intervention was conducted.

Team Building

Problem Situation
Some minority male employees leveled discrimination complaints against the department manager for talking to them in a disparaging way, overlooking them when promotional opportunities were posted, and paying them less than market rates. 

DWH Consulting Solution
A multi-tiered approach was employed to resolve the following issues: (1) conducted a preliminary needs assessment with managers and employees, (2) led several team building and conflict resolution sessions with all employees in the department, (3) coached the department manager on her interpersonal effectiveness skills, (4) held exit interviews with every employee, and (5) drafted a final report for senior management.

Results Experienced by Client
Information from primary and secondary sources revealed that the minority male employees lacked the prerequisite skills to qualify for the open positions. Also, employees in this department were actually paid above market rate. With the exception of one employee, the department manager and key employees now have a healthy relationship and no formal charges of discrimination have been filed against the manager or company. 

Leadership Development

Problem Situation
The city manager reported that one of their key city commissions was having difficulty interacting effectively in their roles as commissioners for a local municipality.

DWH Consulting Solution
DWH assisted the city by: (1): developing an customized agenda for discussion, (2) prioritizing the Commission objectives for the next two years, and (3) framing the City’s key issues and community concerns.

Results Experienced by Client
Commission members increased their interpersonal effectiveness and accomplished the work designated in the City’s Charter.

Board Development

The organization required an injection of new external funds to decrease their dependency on local and traditional fund sources.

DWH Consulting Solution
DWH conducted a series of board development workshops with local community leaders as well as drafted an action plan based on the outcomes from my work with the board.

Results Experienced by Client
According to the Executive Director, the plan’s been responsible for attracting $750,000 to the agency’s bottom line.
